I'd like to say thanks to everyone who send us logs of this and again apologize for any inconvenience this is causing.

I've just received information that a new software update will be available shortly with a solution for this.

Until the new software update is available, if the accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, ambient light, proximity sensor, barometer or screen rotation stops responding, please try to restart the phone as a workaround.

If it only happen every now and then it'll be really hard to figure out which app it's causing this

If the accelerometer return working after a reboot... Could you try in safe mode for a while? What apps you recently installed because uliwooly has a point here: it's a software issue and can be fixed removing the app that is causing the problem or performing a software repair.

It can be also the accelerometer that need to be calibrated, and the os disable it because the output is too fuzzy or send the stack in overflow and it simply die...

Can you try before everything I said above to calibrate it? There are many apps that allow you to calibrate it and are free.

It's NOT a single case so it probably not a S/W issue but a H/W one caused by overheat.

I quote http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-x-performance/help/xperia-x-performance-f8132-t3422906 here

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi All,

I got an issue bothering me since I bought Xperia X Perfomance (F8132) Mid June.
The auto rotate function failed after a while but everything goes fine after reboot.
When it fails, I use "Xperia Service Menu" -> "Service Tests" -> "Accelerometer",
then all X,Y,Z are zero and the ball just sticks and freezes at mid.

I bought from Taiwan and I can find 15 more people having the same symptom with me on 2 forums
( http://mobile01.com and http://gamer.com.tw ).
Hence I don't think it's only me and it's a common issue or common yield problem for Xperia X Perfomance.

I post here because I'd like to find more people with the same issue and raise the attention of SONY in order to find the root cause (i guess it's either over-heat causes this or accelerometer yield issue) and give a patch.

Now I'm using a APP "Rotation Control" to workaround this, but all photos cannot records correct orientation data and no auto-rotate is kinda inconvenient.

For a flag-ship and high-priced cellphone for SONY this year, it is very disappointing to me.

Version: 35.0.A.1.227 and 35.0.A.1.238 both occur

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another case here:

I also have that problem. No more auto-rotation after a while (1-2 days) . Only a reboot fixes that

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yet another case here:
I have the same issue on my Xperia X (F5121) bought in Sweden. Haven't checked the accelerometer but the behaviour is the same and reboot is only fix.

I'm sorry to hear that Slightly_frowning_Face

Would it be possible for you to take a log from your phone when the accelerometer has stopped working and send it to me in a private message?

To do this:
Settings > About phone > Build number, tap 7 times on the build number
Go back to Settings and select Developer options and turn on "USB debugging". Then tap "Logger buffer sizes" and set this to "4 M".
- The next time you notice the accelerometer is not working:
Settings > Developer options, select "Take bug report". When the report is ready (may take a minute or so) you get a notification that you can tap and share to Google Drive. Please send me a link to this file in a private message.

Hi Rickard,
I did what you said and will now reboot my phone to get the accelerometer working again. Next time it fails I will send you a log.

Thanks in advance

Thanks again for the logs you sent me!

Based on what could be seen in the logs, the latest software update (35.0.A.1.275) that's currently rolling out should help. When checking your IMEI i see that this version has not rolled out for your operator/market yet though. I'm afraid it's not possible for me to see when a certain country/operator will receive the update so right now i can only recommend that wait for this update to reach your phone.

In case this should still happen after the update to the new version, please let me know.

Hello again,

I received the mentioned update yesterday and let it install but my problem seems not to be fixed...

Sorry to hear that it still doesn't work properly.

Would it be possible for you to take another log on the new firmware and send this to me in a private message?

I have the same problem, accelerometer stopped working. I will send you a log as soon as it happens again. Hopefully there is a solution available.
I am on 275 by the way...
