Why can't the battery hold longer. Z3 compact with same usage, last about 2 days! X compact not??
When I got my Xperia X Compact in mid-November, I was amazed at the battery life, totally astounded - even after setting it up with all the apps I want and would usually install, I was getting the promised 3 days battery out of the phone, something which is never usually the case. It was unbelievable to get to day 3 and still be on around 35% battery.
However, only 4 weeks on, and I took my phone off 100% charge this morning and I am down to 70% already. What ?? I haven't changed a thing for this sort of dramatic decrease. Also, I can't see any rogue apps, or anything indeed using up my battery power.
Have I done anything wrong in terms of looking after my battery and getting the most out of it? It seems far too big a decrease to me in such a short time, and it's averaging just a day now, or even less, compared to the 3 days I was getting just one month ago. Anybody else noticed severe battery drain? Wondering if it could be from an update or something.
My X Compact's battery has been draining quickly even when I haven't been using the phone. I think I finally found the problem. My cell phone service provider (Ting) uses T-Mobile's network. I am in Seattle and I don't think T-Mobile's LTE signal is very strong. I think the phone uses a lot of energy as it keeps trying to reconnect to the LTE signal. So on Android 6.0.1 I went into Settings > Wireless & networks > More > Mobile networks > Preferred network type and changed the setting from "LTE (preferred)/WCDMA/GSM" to "GSM only".
That seems to fix the problem. The quick battery drain has stopped and it looks like I can get through a full day of moderate use again. This is not an ideal solution because data is very slow. You can keep the "GSM only" setting most of the time and switch to LTE only when you need it. At least your battery won't be dead this way. I just found this yesterday to I haven't tried this solution long but so far, so good.
Anyone else found another solution?
Edit: There are 2 other settings "WCDMA only" and "WCDMA (preferred)/GSM" that are worth testing. They have high data speeds. Now I need to check them to see if they drain the battery quickly. If not, that could be the answer I've been looking for.
I'm on WCDMA ONLY and I'm blown away by the amazing battery life on the X compact.
Heavy use, goes for 6+ hours screen-on time.
Yesterday I upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat and the battery has been even worse than before. Like twice as bad. I'll see how things will go today, and in case I'll try resetting the phone. Hopefully the backup/restore will work fine.
Could please someone post a screen of his battery consumption?
I have Phone Idle and Google Play Services draining my battery life, and at 13:00 I have 79% with only 33 minutes of Sot.
I'm very sad about battery life of this phone

This is a good way to save battery life, but it would be good if we could set the mode to change automatically with data on->data off->data on.
Ideally I would use GSM for most of the time, but when I want to use data, it would change from GSM only to all connections and prefer the quickest possible (4G) with pressing the data button. And with pressing the data button again to turn it off, it would return to the earlier network mode, meaning GSM only, to save battery.
