Play Store new app installation stuck in "installing" state

Screenshot_20170501-071135.png

Whenever I try to install a new app from Play Store, the progress is stuck in "installing". This procedure should be done in a few seconds but it actually takes forever. I have to restart my phone to allow the new app icon to appear in the launcher.

This issue showed up after a recent system update. I have tried restarting the phone and resetting Play Store by clearing data.

Auto-update of apps has been totally fine. It is only the issue with new apps.

Any ideas of how to solve this?

Hi @rwalle, welcome to our community!

I'm sorry to hear about this. Slightly_frowning_Face

After you have restarted your phone, are you then able to install the application and use the application as normal or is the restart required just so that you can see the arrow icon in the status bar of your phone and the application is never installed?

I would recommend that you start with rebooting your phone in safe mode and see if you are able to install applications when downloaded applications aren't loaded. You can also reset the Google Play services application in your phone. To do that go to Settings > Apps > Google Play services > Storage > Manage space > Clear all data.

Let me know how it went!

"restarting in safe mode" method seems to have solved my problem. Thanks.

Thanks for the update!

I'm glad to hear it's working now again. Slightly_smiling_Face

Are you able to install them when the phone is in "normal" mode now as well or is it only possible to do so while its rebooted in safe mode?

If it only works in safe mode, one of your downloaded applications is the cause of this. It's very hard to say which application it is that is causing this behaviour but I would recommend that you start with uninstalling the most recent applications that you have installed.

It works when I am in the normal mode.
