Take it to the beach?
I know the X Compact is water resistant, but not waterproof. I used to take my Z3 Compact to the beach and use it without worries, but I'm not sure about this one. I think sand is more of an issue than water, and I'm concerned about the open USB port.

That's a terrible idea, it doesn't matter if a phone is waterproof or water resistant you should keep it away from chlorinated water, sea water, it will corrode the seals and damage the exposed areas.

Well, I never took it in the water; I just sat in a beach chair playing Sudoku on my phone.

I was concerned about sand, not water, as I said in my original post.
