My Xperia Xa encountered a strange issues today involving it spontaneously ignoring all button inputs. 2 hours ago i came to my last class for the day and my friend noticed that my torchlight was on, i went to turn it on and pressed the power button, no response. I grabbed my charger from and plugged it directly into my laptop to see if it was having power issues. It turned on and it had 8% power, i entered its password and noticed that although it recognised screen inputs it didnt vibrate or anything when i touched its screen.
I unplugged its SD card to cause a restart since i couldnt hold down the power button too. Restarted and the issue wouldnt go away. Thought i should open up an app to remove its power quicker to so a full power off and on, so i went to make the volume go down and the volume button also had no response. I let the power go out and, although it recognised being charged i was unable to get it into recovery mode.
tldr: All buttons wont work on phone however when i had it on it recognised me touching screen but did not cause screen vibrations
First start is to see what happens in safe mode where self installed apps are discarted.
Second is to test the buttons from within the Support app (in safe mode)
If all fails the 3rd step is to perform a software repair with Xperia Companion.
If that fails too then once again the Support app is your friend which guides you to Sony customer care.
When buttons and screen fail a mouse connected to the USB port often is the last resource.
