in a brief case with 8 sheets of A4, opened case and touched screen- went mad and doesn't respond to touch.
I've a three year waranty with supplier and have seen BBC Watchdog program.
I could understand impact damage or dropping it, but I'm disapointed it has been treated gently and is broken.
Is there an average timespan as mines maybe 6-7 months old:smileyconfused:
I'm sorry to hear that, contact your local xperia care asap

Perhaps the phone has been hit, dropped, sat on, etc which created micro cracks and the only thing needed was few more hits for the cracks to expand, if you take a picture of the phone and post it here, I'm almost certain we can pin point the point of impact.
Hi I have tried to take a photo, I can't get it to come out clear,
I have checked the origin of the crack and there is no scrapes, scratches or dents and anti shatter film is pristine.
I've left it on my desk and there are several extra cracks appeared- that all appear from one point.
I've never broken a screen before and it sounds like your saying that the glass isn't as tough as competitors and that what appears previously perfect-can have damage that apears days or weeks later, hardly a resounding indorsement of durability for anyone buying second hand.
I had my concerns about durability prior to purchasing a brand new grey import, seems these were well founded.
my phone has no scrapes, scratches on it- but as a side point the casing has discoloured top and bottom as well- could this be related?
I understand your concern, but if you check other brand's forums, you will find that cracked screens its the top issue with phones, and many users say that it cracked on it own.
Taking a picture of your phone shouldn't be so hard, either or, you have 2 options
1. get it repaired with your local Xperia care
or
2. DIY, which will be cheaper but will void the warranty.
