Error! Camera not Available! When opening camera ap

I recently got an Xperia Z and when I open the camera app the message "Error: Camera Not Available" pops up. I have tried clearing the camera apps data and restarting does nothing. I have tried the Sony Diagnositcs tool and the rear camera is not working. I have also tried updating the firmware using the Sony Update Service tool, but again it did not work.

Are there any furter steps I can take to fix this issue or am I going to have to return the phone?

So you have have diagnostics and the camera did not work?Boot your phone in safe mode and see if the same occurs:

Hi nhoward

if you are sure you have removed data and clear cache then do this

>settings -> apps -> all -> Camera, there is a option of "Disable", if it shows disable then disable it restart the phone then go back to the same place then enable it again, if it is not working, try "Force quit " and restart

hope this may work

I disabled the camera as clearing the cache did not work. While the camera was disabled, I installed open camera, it the world fine, I guess using the factory one was just problematic. I had even updated to the latest version of lollipop, still worked for about 3 shots only, so at this stage, open camera app is the workaround, and an impressive camera to use anyway!
