Homes screen crash

I got the Xperia z1about 2months ago, and recently the home screen background has been crashing. The touch screen and apps and widgets still work fine, but the background goes black and glitches, it sometimes gives the white noise screen that used to come on old TVs.

when i change the wallpaper or theme the background switches between the two screenshots above, and not to the wall paper/theme that i've chosen. The only way to correct it by switching the phone off and on again. It happens at any time (whether the battery is low or not) and is happening much more frequently, almost on a daily basis.

Any ideas on how to fix this.

Re-start your phone on safemode and check again, if that doesn't solve the issue then repair your phone with SUS or PCC

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

Aside from the above (which is good advice) it would also be worth trying to clear the Xperia Home application:

Main Menu > Settings > Apps > All > Xperia Home > Clear Data.

My Xperia Home app keeps crashing.  I went and loked for support and have force stopped the app a d cleared the data & but the cache won't clear.  I click the clear cache button and nothing happens.  Now my Sol Calendar widget and Google keep widget won't install on my home pages.  Other widgets (google calendar, music) are working.  Can you help?  I'm running android 5.0.2 and have an Xperia z3

Troubleshooting:

-cleared data, foreces stop on Xperia home.  hard restart

-uninstalled solcalendar and google keep.  Installed again, hard restart.

-second force stop on Xperia Home (as it is still crashing)

The crashing started today and the only thing new I have done is I subscribed to Google Play Music last night but already had the app.

Any advice would be appreciated.

If you suffer from excessive crashes like this and you already tried clearing cache, I'd suggest that you do a PC Companion phone repair, this will do a clean installation of the latest firmware and will also wipe your internal memory. Be sure to back up your data before you proceed.

Open PC companion -> Support zone -> Phone/tablet software update -> Repair my phone/tablet (blue link style). Follow the steps given, do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable.
