Last update takes up more storage space

I downloaded last update few weeks ago and half of my space is taken.. Android takes 3gb of overall 6gb on the phone.. Any help?

Was it an upgrade to Android 5.0 or something else?

Thanks Mentor, that explains why. The update to Lollipop is very big. I believe it's a 2.3 GB file size. Unfortunately, I believe the only way to get more storage is to use a SD card or to root your phone and then downgrade to Kitkat. These are the only options I know but Uliwooly could know more. Sorry.
