Messages - opening message takes a long time

Hi guys

I've just got a new z3 and am slightly frustrated with the messages. It's taking up to 15 seconds to open up a conversation, it took 8 seconds to open a conversation I started today with 18 messages in it.

Is this normal? I just get the spinning wheel with 'opening conversation'.

I've coke from an iPhone and it only ever took time to open after a restart.

If this isn't normal (I'm hopping it's not) hoew can i fix this?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

That sounds strange. Do you have many messages in general? For example, messages that you imported from another phone or similar?

Yes I have 3 conversations brought in from my iPhone. I think it's loading the entire conversation, on the iPhone it only loaded about 15-20 most recent messages then you had to prompt it to load more... Is there a setting somewhere that tells it to load the whole thing?

I'm trying to delete all of my imported conversations but it's been half an hour and the progress wheel is still spinning... Surely for a powerful phone this should be faster?!

If you have choosen to import the messages from your iPhone, it will import all the messages. Could you take a look in the following thread to see if any of my advice can help you in this matter?

I only had 3 conversations on my iPhone as there was not enough memory... Hence the upgrade. I still can't delete the biggest of the conversations and the new conversation started today still takes 10 seconds to load:/

@GeorgeFielding

Let's try this

settings > apps > all > messaging > clear data > force stop > restart the phone > try again

if that doesn't work then

Boot on safe mode and try again

the last resort will be to repair the phone with PCC

PC Companion (PCC)

Bridge (for Mac)
