When I physically shut off my Xperia Z2 tablet the screen occasionally flashes on with the Sony logo and then flashes off. It does this repeatedly until the battery is fully drained. What's weird is that it burns through more power when it is turned off than when it is turned on. My question is why does it do this and how can I turn it off without this happening. Especially since, when it runs out of power, it can take a few days to get it to turn back on. A very unpleasant power experience overall, not like my old Z1 which would last for 30+ days without going dead.
Although I live in the United States, I purchased a UK model. SGP521. Running Android 4.4.2. I chose this model because it was the only model I could purchase with 4G that did not have the Verizon branding. (I tried an unlocked Verizon model before trying this one, but it's bloatware was so bad I could not use any of the features I needed on the ATT network and it was prevented from using the Sony Diagnostic tools. (I went through hoops to sell that piece of junk at a loss to buy an imported model new) After that experience I decided to NEVER purchase any Sony product with any phone carrier branding ever again.
I loved how the Xperia Z1 had amazing battery life and power saving, which is why I bought a Z2, but I decided to pass up the Z3 because it seemed like instead of fixing the bugs you guys are putting on a new device every few months. I mean, case in point, you guys JUST released the Z5 and I bought this tablet new like a year ago. I would rather buy a new device that works out of the box, rather than a new device with new problems every other generation. I will probably buy a new Xperia device in the future, but my experience with the Z2 has me hesitant.
I'm sorry to hear that.
I recommend that you try holding the off-button located under the cover for the memory card slot for a few seconds using the tip of a pen.
If this doesn't help, do you have any accessory connected when this happens?
