Xperia Z1 compact headset volume issue

Hi,

I have been having an Issue with my Sony Xperia Z1 Compact since yesterday. Every time I plug in my headphones, my phone reduces the volume of all sounds (Phone and media) to zero and continues to do so even when I manually increase it. Further, I would get a notification on Smart Connect that I have pressed the app key (I did no such thing) and would ask me to assign a task for it. I also got the update to Lollipop last night but the volume issue still persists. This only happens when I plug in my headphones. I have tried using Sony earphones as well as my everyday use Senheiser pair but I keep having the same issue. Please help!

I have the exact same problem here. It's very annoying. Did you find any solution? I hope it's not the jack input what's damaged.

I think your SmartConnect app is causing this problem, try the following:

- Go to Settings -> Apps -> Smart Connect -> Force stop, Unistall updates, Clear data.

- Go to Settings -> Apps -> All -> Audio settings -> Clear data and restart your phone.

-  Then go to your Play Store and update Smart Connect again.

I thought this occured for safety reasons just incase it started off too loud and it would then let you adjust it if indeed it blasted out, after all not all mp3's are the same audio level.  I do believe there is a volume normalise on tracks now in the new sony music app which has replaced the walkman.

I have the same problem that you describe. Did you manage to solve your problem by now? I am about to send it to repair centre already for the second time. It's NOT a question of volume level too high or Smart connect (App) but a software problem due to the fact that everything worked well until I updated to lollipop. I use Bose earplugs.
