Volume controls don't work

I've had a xz premium for a few months and have an issue since the start bit only now is it becoming a pain. When I use headphones (every day) the volume control on the headphones does not work. I can press both volume up and down at the same time and this pauses the song. But the single buttons to increase or decrease volume does nothing. Usually use apple headphones, but I have tried various different types. All having the same issue, I have to use the volume control on the side of the phone but isn't ideal getting my phone out every couple of mins to adjust. I have done a rebuild of the device and software. No Joys.

@Shamilldo the headphones you've tried work properly on other devices? what headphone models have you tried?

I have tried apple standard headphones, bose sports headphones, Sony Ericsson headphones, and the ones that came with the phone. Sound wise they are all fine, just the buttons on the headphones doesn't do anything except pause if I press both buttons

Sorry yes the headphones work on other devices fine including button controls
