I have been using Sony products for a long time, my previous product being Z3 Compact. The product was extremely good - it just slowed down, and had memory issues in the end. I decided to upgraded to the new XZ1 compact, but so far I have been let down. I have various serious issues:
1) Bluetooth In-Car - Already opened a topic on this and found others have similar issues! Why would a product be launched with such a malfunction?
2) Google Now - Even if I have tried disabling and enabling the feature many times, "OK Google" is not working - I must press the mic to be able to use the feature
3) Random Application lock-ups - Applications are stalling - and I get the wait or close window.
4) Reboot does not happen - When I get this wierd affect mentioned above, if I try to reboot the phone, it stays saying restarting, and never gets to reboot. I would have to press the volume down + power button for the device to restart.
Does anyone else have such behaviour ?
No, it is not. I really like it for its size and design.
1) No problem here, worked in 2 cars for me.
2) Can't say, haven't tried. I can try if you want.
3) Not even once in the three weeks I had it has this happened.
4) see 3)
1) No problems here. Tried with two cars.
(Did you try to set AVRCP version to 1.4? Some cars show problems if using 1.6 ; phone tells us 1.4 is standard, but still uses 1.6 default.)
2) Works here.
3) Never seen one.
4) Can't tell as (see "3)") I never needed it.
I'm also not satisfied with the phone how it behaves sometimes.
Few times I had to reboot and it didn't go well. Bluetooth connection with my audio receiver is a ramp. Before I had samsung galaxy s5 neo and without any problems to connecting to my Av receiver.
I play only one game and sometimes it freezing. I get every time on the screen and it says photo app is stopt. Very annoying.
Random re-boots, including just after connecting to Bluetooth, application lockups, Google assistant not detecting speach / "ok Google" and smart lock stopping working are regular occurrences. Disappointing but early days so hopefully Sony will fix with next update.
I have the same problems, the phone sometimes turns off, or does not respond promptly to commands .... a disaster
Simple answer.. No..
Guys.. personally I've always had Sony phones since the days of when they were Sony Ericcson. I still have my first digital phone the GH198 at home, original box, phone, batteries etc.. It was a great phone back in its day and still my favourite phone to date..
Anyway, I digress.. In my humble opinion Sony have and still do produce the best phones on the market. I would never have any other make..
The XZ1 Compact is my latest. It is a great phone but I feel the problems here are not with the actual mechanics of the phone but with the developers of Oreo... They need to be made aware of the issues users are experiencing and fix them.. Without delay..!!
There's my take on it anyway..
I have experienced all as below
1. Random reboots when using camera, video chatting or answering call
2. Weird sound beeping noise when on the call
3. "Ok Google" not detected
4. Loosing WiFi connection (at work and at home)
I did not experienced App lockups and "non reboot" issues.
All of what I mentioned above (except number 2) has been fixed with factory reset and starting from scratch. Since I have done it,I had no major issues.
All what I mentioned above does not undermine Sony in my eyes in any way. These issues are software based and can be fixed. Overall Xz1c is my favourite phone to date. I love battery life, compact size and slow-motion feature.
