did you exposed the phone to water? did you dropped the phone?

I'm sorry to hear this. As @uliwooly asked, has the phone been exposed to water or any other external damage?

I would recommend that you try and force shutdown your device using the dedicated off button located under the SIM-cover. You can see where it is located in the picture bellow.

After that try and start your device as normal. If you are unable to I recommend that you try and perform a software repair using Xperia Companion.
