Couldn't pair with xxxx Because of an incorrect PIN or Passkey

Please note that I am on a Sony Z3
running Android 5.0.2 on my phone and never had an issue previously

I have a bluetooth device which used to be paired to my phone
However the device will no longer pair
When I try to connect the device
via the App for it, I get the following error
Couldn't pair with xxxx Because of an incorrect PIN or Passkey
The problem with this is THE DEVICE Does not have a method to input a passkey or pin
And it has NEVER asked for one in the past.

I have already tried restarting the phone
Uninstalling and installing the app for the device
and nothing works'

In fact to make things worse when I try to view the device via Bluetooth devices on the phone it does not show up on the list of devices
However If I use an iPHONE, I can see the device in the list of bluetooth devices
Which is suggesting that this is an ISSUE with the Bluetooth for the Sony Z3 on Android 5.0.2

Please advise ASAP as I how have a USELESS device thanks to the Sony z3

Settings > apps > all > smartconnect > clear data > restart the phone on safe mode > try again

I'm having exactly the same issues, did you ever get it fixed? I've searched everywhere but can't find a fix for this.. It's all happened since the update.. Terrible

Sorry to hear that.

What device are you trying to pair the phone with?

Is there any progress on this problem? I'm having the exact same problem. Ford Sync was working flawlessly with my Sony Z1 Compact until a few days ago when the bluetooth connection was no longer made.

I've tried everything but the bottom line is when I try to 'add new device' via Ford Sync I'm met with the 'Couldn't pair with xxxx because of an incorrect PIN or Passkey' message, but there is absolutely NOWHERE to enter the new password displayed on the car's screen into the phone - there's just no option anywhere.

How do I input the new password? Please help!

I don't know if the phone has been updated during the past week but the operating system is currently Android version 5.1.1.

Thanks.

Hi.

I have an issue I can't solve, pairing my Ford Sync audio system with my Z1 Compact.

It worked perfectly well until a month or so ago when the connection disappeared and no matter what I try, I can't get past the problem that the car's device displays a number for me to enter on the phone, but after a few seconds of the phone trying to 'pair' I get the message: 'Couldn't pair with Sync because of an incorrect PIN or Passkey' - but it never gives me the option to enter a number.

I've deleted all existing Bluetooth pairings on the phone, clearing Bluetooth data and cache, trying safe mode, etc., and nothing works.

Basically, I can't pair the phone with the car's device because it does not give me the option to input the PIN.

Is anybody else having this problem, and is there solution? Please! It's driving me mad.

It's Android Lollipop - and I think the problem only happened when I updated from previous android version.

Thanks.

I'm sorry - it was a mistake, I didn't mean to post here again. I thought I'd started a new post in the Z1 Compact forum. Is there any way for me to move this?

I'm also interested in a solution to this problem as I have a Z5 which can no longer pair with a couple of device citing the incorrect pin of passkey error.

I have a pair of SBH60 bluetooth headphones which were initally a probelm late last year but I gave up on trying to fix things.

However, yesterday I had to do a full wipe of the phone as the marshmallow update failed for me so I thought it would be worth trying again once I had the phone back up and running, however the problem still happens.

I have now also tried to pair the phone with my Sony Bravia TV and a Bose Soundlink speaker, both of which fail in the same way so I now know that it is the phone which is somehow at fault despite having the OS completely reinstalled.

All of these device sync fine with my old nexus 5.

I have no idea how this problem can persist in this way and not be clearable. it's very weird.

Thanks,
Alain
