Green glow on camera

Hi All,

I just bought a new Xperia and it has a camera problem.

Below movie is self-explanatory.

What is this green glow and how do I get rid of it?

Thanks,
Andrew

Do you have a case that may be causing that reflection?
My hunch is that it's something gone wrong with either the sensor or lens array.
Try a repair installation using pc companion or Xperia companion but if that fails to fix it, either take it back to where you purchased it or contact your local support.

Thanks for prompt response viridis.

Unfortunately it's not an issue with the case. I tried and same thing happens without a case on my phone.

I feel it's a combination of two things: overheating + damaged camera.

Overheating, because this issue isn't always present. Only when outside on a sunny day/when charging phone/after playing with the phone for some time. Also, camera tends to spit 'overheated' warnings and crashes after 1 minute of recording a movie. Very annoying.

Damaged camera, because this smudge/glare is always there in the same position (right side) and it has the same shape. It just changes colour based on something - could be due to overheating or changing filter.

I made below screenhots when manually applying different filters + when phone was plugged into charger (simulating overheating) + without any case on a phone. All photos were done within 2 minutes. Results are pretty interesting.

The reason I aim my thinking towards sensor fault, is because in your video, the grey area moves slightly. This for me is because of steadyshot slightly moving the image over the sensor to create a stable video.
The pictures do show different colours as you possibly know due to different shades of the filters.
I'm afraid it's going to be a case of backing it up using pc companion or Xperia companion, repair installation to see if it does change anything, and if not, booking it in for assessment with your local Sony support.

Unfortunately repair installation with Sony PC Companion didn't help. Seems to be a hardware issue then.

Also, new video of my camera glitch, just for reference if anybody has the same problem in the future.

Thanks for suggestion orion310591

Just tried to get it working on below camera app. Unfortunately it's exactly the same issue there.

I had no problems with my Z2 and its camera until I have updated it to newest Android 6.0.1. Now it's all green. I tried the repair tool using pc companion software from Sony but it didn't help. See pictures of the issue: http://imgur.com/ceAvw9W
