How to root Xperia Z without unlocking bootloader?

Hi everyone!

I'd like to ask how to root my Xperia Z (With or without PC) WITHOUT unlocking my bootloader.

Its build number is 10.4.1.B.0.101 & It runs (for now) on Jelly Bean 4.3

Any help would be appreciated.

I've just said to unroot you need to manaully flash a .ftf firmware file see above post

Would not be surprised that to remove root, a simple "repair" with PC Companion could do the trick and could be more newbie friendly.

When I've tried that I get modified software detected and it fails as before it begins the repair it checks the kernal and because it's been modified for root it fails

I appologize. I mis-read "unroot" with root.

Thank you a lot for your assistance Thommo. My question has been, indeed, answered well.

hi, Interested to do the same with my Experia Z2. Will it be anything different from the steps already described, or is it a different approach to root but witout unlocking bootloader?

Thank you

Try my 1st post on page 1 - It may work and if it doesn't then you may most likely will have to unlock your bootloader and use a different method but check on your model number/version on the XDA site as they will have a section dedicated to rooting your model number

Z4root is a very old application wich seem not having be updated since 2011.

I would be very surprised if it supported the xperia Z range.

I was planning on rooting my Xperia z3 but I just stumbled upon this:

http://www.gizmodo.co.uk/2014/10/rooting-your-xperia-z3-will-ruin-your-phones-low-light-capabilities...

Just wanted to confirm if this would bypass the lost camera features when rooting before I do it myself

Thanks

Did the camera still work properly?Just rooting, not unlocking the bootloader? Thanks
