Microphone not working during calls

Hey, got a little problem here.

I´ve got a problem with my microphone not working on my Z5 Compact during calls.

The person in the recieving end cannot hear me.

It works fine when i use speaker phone, no problem at all there.

Tried factory reset - still not working

Tried the Service tests for both microphones in *#*#7378423#*#* - works fine when doing the tests but still not working during calls.

Tried booting to "Safe Mode" and made a call but still not working.

Can someone please tell med what the heck is wrong with the phone?

@JK82

If it works on safe mode and in diagnostics, then this means there's a third party app taking control of your mic and not releasing it for calls and you have to figure out which one. Start by uninstalling those apps you installed recently.

Well it's not working in safe mode during calls as said above.

My bad then, I misread that part. Do you have any call recorders installed?

Hi @JK82, sorry to hear about this. Slightly_frowning_Face

Is the microphone working correctly if you do the inbuilt test in Diagnostics in the phone? You can find this test in Settings > About phone > Diagnostics > Test > Microphone.

If it is, try and change the preferred network type to GSM only and make a few calls without activating the speaker phone. To change the network type, go to Settings > More > Mobile networks > Preferred network type.

The factory reset that you did, was it done from the Settings menu of your phone? If it was, you can always try and perform a software repair using Xperia Companion. This is a bit different from a factory reset since it will reinstall the latest available software in your phone and delete all data stored on the internal storage. Since data is being removed, it is always advised to create a backup using Xperia Companion before you start with the repair.

Let us know how it goes!

Yes the mic is working in the inbuilt Diagnostics test and in the actuall service menu test.

Tried changing to GSM only but it didn´t help.

I´ve done factory resets from both the inbuilt Reset function in the phone and from Xperia companion with no luck, the mic is still not working correctly.

The thing is, if I call someone they don´t hear much of what I am saying. Sounds really really low and some wierd noises. But if I blow into the lower mic during the call it actually sounds normal, like a normal blow into the mic that is.
