Outlook Not Saving Contacts Xperia Z3

The default Sony Contacts app will not save a new contact when the account being saved to is accessed through the Microsoft Outlook app.

Scenarios:

• If I add a new contact through the Contacts app and select my 'Google contact' to save it in, no problems. It saves every time.
• If I add a new contact and select 'Phone contact' to save it in, also no problems. Saved.
• If I add a new contact and select 'Outlook contact' to save it in, it won't save.  The app is saying 'Saving' but the contact is never found in the Contacts list later. This applies equally to two different accounts that are accessed through Outlook: a Hotmail account and an another private IMAP account

Has anyone else had this problem with Outlook? Is it a bug within the app, or could I have another app or config conflicting with Outlook?

I've been a bit lazy but I was going to do a write up for email and syncing, not just for Microsoft but others, but particularly because Microsoft has different servers to connect to.
