Hi Sony,
I've been a long-term Sony Xperia customer (Z1, Z3, Z5 Compact), but this might be my last Sony phone. The Z1 was reliable, but Z3 and Z5 have been way too much trouble. They start out great as long as they're kept on their original software they ship with, but beware you ever make the mistake to upgrade the software. It becomes a nightmare with all three phones. Do you guys do any testing at all? Unfortunatley it's not even possible to permanently hide the software updates you're trying to force upon us.
On my Z3, the proximity sensor "broke" with an update, locking the screen and keeping it black when receiving phone calls, which made it impossible to operate dial-tone menus or even hang-up a phone call.
On my Z5 with Nougat, caller IDs aren't displayed any more, but only phone numbers of callers and incoming text. And Facebook app can't up updated or installed. The suggested "solution" to reset the phone (/t5/Xperia-Z5-Z5-Compact-Z5-Premium/Sony-Xperia-Z5-Compact-Android-7-0-Nougat-Can-t-install-or/td-p/...) is rediculous!! I'd rather buy a non-Sony phone and dump my Z5 than doing that.
XPeria started off great with the Z1 back then, but ever since my experiences have been a mix of "nice phone" when it was new (running its original software), and more or less of a nightmare once the software was upgraded for the first time.
If you want to sell phones in the future, you'll have to address your quality issues!!
Nick
I've recently "upgraded" to a Z5 Compact as well and have been disappointed.
The waterproofing on my Z3Compact was great. I took it canoeing and swimming (never for extended periods), dropped it in dishwater and had no problems. I was canoeing with the Z5 in my pocket, I was in the water for <1 minute and now the touch screen is not functioning. I'm sure the seals weren't as good as advertised. I think I just got a lemon that shouldn't have made it past quality control. Doubt they'll warranty it as it sounds like they don't warranty water damage on their "waterproof" phones.
