Update has made my texts very dull and hard to read

Before the update my texts were a dark font. Now? Mybtexts are very light and difficult to see. This is very frustrating. I only just moved from apple to sony. If this problem persists I think I'll move over to Samsung. Any help on how to fix my texts?

It has been posted before, getting a new phone because an app it's not wise, you have a smartphone with thousands of apps on the play store to customize your phone as you please, check Google Messenger

1) my text message app has played up since the update. My profile photo is no longer visible for a start (the person who I am texting, their profile photo is still visible though).

Also, still in the message app, I go to send message and I have to keep tapping the arrow to send (like it's lost it's touch sensitivity or something)
