Xperia Z 3 compact screen Cracked,locked & unresponsive

Hello,

Unfortunately i dropped my Z3 compact and even though it was in a case, the screen cracked. i have dropped lots of phones and they still work fine so surprised how weak this was but anyway i need to get it repaired as its a good little phone, however. 1. I can't unlock the screen to do a factory reset as it's unresponsive and i have my e mail accounts and others on it which could be accessed if i can't do a factory reset.

I have tried to do a hard reset but all the searches show its only possible to do a soft reset with the power and volume buttons etc - Is it possible to do a factory reset with a broken screen ?

2. I connected the phone to my pc to try access it and it shows the device but with nothing on it. Is this because the screen is locked ? i don't want to pay for a screen replacement if the phone is broke too. How can i tell ?

i can't do a remote wipe as i never registered the imie number and i believe i need a working screen to access this.

3. best place for a repair in the UK and probable cost ? i was considering carphone warehouse. i am with EE but obviously not covered under warranty for this.

Is the LCD working? if it is then connect a mouse and unlock the phone with the mouse, if neither the screen nor the digitizer are working then there isn't much you can do. 

As far as price or suggestions, I think @Thommo could guide you better.

Thankyou @Uliwooly, not sure if i have to do the @ for you to see this. newbie here  I presume i need some kind of adapter for the USB mose to connect to the Z3. i will try this and thank you for your prompt reply.

I think I have something in mind, I'm not sure it would work as your screen is locked, but no harm in trying.

Force shutdown your phone by following the method below and do not switch it on and repair its software by PC Comp which would erase all the data on your phone.

Press and hold the " Power " and " Volume Up " buttons exactly at the same time for
5 seconds > force restart ( 1 vibration)
10 seconds > force shutdown ( 3 vibrations)

Now repair your software by using PC Companion ( only if it allows you to do so. You have set a password and I'm not sure if it would work)

Update / Repair your phone's software via PC Companion.
Download PC Companion and install it. Do not connect the phone to your computer unless you're asked to do so.

Launch PC Companion > Start Support Zone > Start Phone/ Tablet Software update > Select "Repair my Phone/ Tablet" > Follow the on-screen instructions it shows.
