Xperia Z2 1279-0989_R3A ROM "Commercial and Journalists" update problem

 Hi,

Maybe it's not big scale problem, but I think, that for those few people with this customization it's very annoying.

Customization version of my Xperia Z2 is 1279-0989_R3A and I still have Android 4.4.2. From a long time I should have Android 4.4.4 (and in Feb 5.0!), but in my OTA there is no updates.

Yes, I know that I can root this phone, but I dont imagine, that if I bought original phone, I should do it to have a "normal" version of Android.

Sony, do you have any plans to upgrade my phone, or should I root it?

I checked the IMEI-number you have registered with us and it should not have this customization. It should be branded for T-Mobile Poland (1281-1403). It seems someone has changed the firmware in your phone at some point into a firmware not intended for consumers.

I recommend that you contact a service location to have the correct firmware installed (1281-1403). This has been updated to Android 4.4.4.

Yeah, I tried.

Woman in contact center told me, that if I don't have update, i shouldn't have it.

But let me repeat. I know, and all of you knows, that update for Xperia Z2 was long time ago and everyone has it.

Except me.

Thanks a lot!

Can I only do it in service? Restoring to factory settings won't help?

Check XDA here for stock firmware then manually flash your phone using Flashtool here and a guide can be found on Youtube or XDA and even XperiaBlog

A factory reset will not change the customization. The suggestion by

@Rickard, as "contact a service location" you mean Sony or T-Mobile service?

Not sure if T-Mobile has their own service locations. It needs to be a service location authorized by Sony Mobile. Your local support team will be able to tell you where the nearest service location is located.
