Hello Emir, sorry to answer you so late but I was on vacation. My smartphone has never been repaired because so far it worked perfectly. Reading all previous posts I understood that the repair had a cost of about 150 € and that, in the case of refusal of repair, we must pay the diagnosis made by the repair center. On the other hand it seems that after repair the same problem manifests itself after a while.
All this information does not encourage me to repair my phone especially since it is all at my expense.
I have not seen anywhere in posts that Sony recognized that the problem came from the weakness of a room which seems to be the case in view of the many people who had the same problem.
I expected better from a company like Sony.

Regards.

Hello.

I've been having the same problem as everyone else. The problems have appeared 3 months after warranty expired.

Left, top and bottom edges are not responding. I can't use navigation buttons. I can't lower notification bar.

What is odd is that everything is working before I unlock the screen. For instance, I can lower notification bar before unlocking the screen, but not after. This suggests that the problem is not in hardware. I tried to reset the phone and the software repair via the app suggested on this page, but it didn't help.

I've already switched to Samsung.

Hello dominik91,
Thank you for your testimony which is added to many others. As many of you have tried to understand and circumvent the manifestation of the problem. For my part I am at the point of turning off and turning on my smartphone to return to the starting point ..... super convenient!
The worst thing is that Sony knows exactly where the problem is coming from but the only response from them to which we are entitled is that they are sorry to hear our complaints and suggest we have it repaired via their service center. (at our cost).
I wish you better reliability at Samsung.

Hi all,

I logged in to this forum just to say that I have the same problem.

All of a sudden the top of the screen stopped responding. The bottom still works (I guess not for long), but using it is a pain, since I have to be flipping the phone to landscape or using accessibility options to reach the top menus.

My Z3C is only about 18 months old. I never had a phone that failed in such a  short time of usage.

The sad thing is that I was very happy with this phone, but now I know that I should not buy Sony phones again.

PS: I've already done a factory reset. I am still going to try the xperia companion, but from what I've read, I know it is not going to work.

Hi

Same for me, the notification bar became to turn mad just 2 weeks after the end of warranty....

Since a few month I also had problems with the vibrator (acting like it got blocked when heated, after a few activations), and the headphone plug is no more able to work with the noise cancellation function of my SONY MDR NC31EM...

Tried factory reset , tried software repair of Sony Companion, nothing changed...

Deeply disappointed with Sony, as I was exspecting something more reliable and with a higher life expectancy than 2 years (which is... the warranty duration...).

May try to send it back to support, but won't buy any new Sony anymore if it remains so weak...

Hello BéO2Nice,

Thank you for your testimony.
I also tried all the recommended recommendations to try to solve the problem but without success. Among these tests was the one that allows to fill the screen by touching it; the upper zone was no longer about half a centimeter across the entire width.
I am disappointed because me too, except this failure, I had nothing to blame this smartphone.
I have the impression that Sony does not imagine for a second that we can keep a smartphone more than two years.
Regards.

Hi

Seems like on my Z3c , the upper part of the screen is still responsive on the "Diagnostics app" test but acts as if it was less sensitive than before... The notification bar is sometime like mad, but today it remained quite normal...

I will wait a few days before sending it to repair center, but definitely don't want to change this device as it's only 2 years old (I'm not keen on changing phone too often).

I will keep you posted here...

Hi,

Like many others I've only logged to add mine to the list. Same story, top and bottom of the screen are unresponsive and getting worse. It doesn't even work properly in glove mode now, thats iffy anyway as I've managed to buy an amazon book and make a few phone calls unknowingly from my pocket.

Its been a great phone until this and I've had 3 other Xperia's (all with issues) but enough is enough.

sayonara Sony.

By the way the Sony warranty is 2 years so if your phone is younger than that get on to Sony

Hello BéO2Nice,
If you send your Z3C for repair I will be interested to have a return from you concerning the delay, the cost and other information that could also be useful to all those who have brought their testimony on this forum.
Thank you in advance.
