Same problem, xperia z3 compact 30 months, used with caution!
For 1 month at the top of the home screen, it is not possible to open the menu of notifications by a finger slipping down when the phone is vertical. For 2 days, at the bottom of the home screen, 3 keys: "back" "home" "list of active prog" does not react. If you switch the phone to landscape mode, the notifications menu works, the 3 keys change to the side of the screen but remain inactive The phone has been reset with xperia companion via USB of my Win computer. The problem is still here. For the rest everything works perfectly. The screen is impeccable and has never had a blow,
The official technical service tells me: The screen of your product is damaged. To solve the problem, the screen needs to be replaced. for 165 euros.
The problem is recurrent, there is a fault on the phone. Can Sony make a commercial gesture towards its loyal customers?
thank you

Same problem here. We have two z3Compact phones, both had the exact issues about 2 years after we bought them.

Please tell me there s a fix, because if there isnt and Sony is not addressing the problem that seemingly EVERYONE is having with that model (which was supposed to be a flagship!), I wont be buying another Sony phone in my life.

Ok, ust read through the whole thread. Looks like Sony is just gonna ignore the problem, that is way too specific and happens way too often.

Support, no need to copy and paste the standard reply. You know very well whats really going on here. Havent seen an official statement by the company addressing this problem, so both our z3c phones will be thrown in the trash can.

Too bad I hate the design of most of the other smartphones out there, but I wont be buying a Sony one anymore, thats for sure.

Good evening everyone. Already more than a month and a half I have written a message here announcing my problem on the Sony Xperia z3 compact. Several cases proved in France since then and I see here that the comments are flying and are numerous. For my part my phone no longer works at all. I tried to repair it via the application on the computer, but I could not. Unfortunately I had a protection scheme to unlock the screen, the screen no longer responding to certain places I never could unlock the phone to allow connection via the computer. I can not tell you if the application can fix this problem. An update could have damaged the phone drivers. It is curious that so many people encounter this problem in such a short time ... For my part between the first problems and the "death" of the phone has elapsed 15 days .. Phone in perfect condition never fallen I took care of me .. I do not thank sony for their help because they did nothing and that is more to put the cause on a damaged screen while this step is not true ... I had to buy a phone because it serves me for my work. I succumbed for the Sony XA1 ULTRA because Sony is one of the recognized and affordable brands in France .. I hope not to be disappointed again ... Courage to all. Rip for my xperia Z3

I've got the same problem with the edges of my screen not working. In my case the right hand edge is worst so I cannot type P or 0. Done chat with Sony support and they say send it in for investigation. Looks as though this problem is really common on Z3C. Anyone actually had their screen replaced? Is everything working afterwards? How much did it cost (in UK)?

Hi Christian from Denmark here

I've had my Z3 compact for three years, and I too have problems with the touch screen. Most part of the screen doesn't work correctly.

It seems impossible to get through to Sony, and get a solution to the problem, so I've been thinking about buying a new phone.

Sony is my absolute favorite brand in smartphones, but when i researched for a new phone, I found out that many of the newer models have the same problems as well.

Sony obviously doesn't care about the problem and just ignores it. A sad way to treat loyal costumers.

Seems my new phone won't be a Sony, so I've been looking at Samsung (I'll never buy an iPhone).

J sent a registered mail to the customer service of Sony, I will see their answer finally if I have one!
My next laptop will not be a Sony .... !!

Hi Everyone,

I understand it may be frustrating to receive the same reply for me, but I am sorry to say that if the troubleshooting mentioned in this thread does not help, I would advice that you have your device sent to an authorized service center.

The easiest way to have your device sent to an authorized service center is to get in touch with your Local support, as they are well informed regarding the local service routines, consumer laws and warranty terms in your market.

Emir,

I think the frustrating thing is that so many people having the same problem can only mean that there is a major design flaw with this phone that Sony are not willing to acknowledge.

If it costs 150 euros to get the screen replaced it's probably better to buy a new Samsung A3 or Lenovo Moto 5 plus for £200.

[CROSS-POSTED TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT THIS FATAL ISSUE]

First time poster - and shocked to find this and related threads on this forum about this issue that I've just experienced on my phone. Initially only a few parts of the screen were unresponsive, but over the course of 1-2 weeks the "disease" spread until most of the screen is not responsive, making the phone unlockable and unusable.

I noticed the failure appeared to occur in horizontal "stripes" - first the lower home buttons area stopped, then the top menu pull-down area, then other horizontal blocks on the screen...

How can Sony simply remain quiet about this long-standing issue that totally kills the phone?
