Hi Sony,
I've got this touch screen iresponsive on the top and bottom. I was not able to pulldown the notification and shortcuts menu when in portrait mode. Now even the bottom part of the screen starting become iresponsive. Pressing the back/menu/taskmenu starting to mulfunction.
Please help me fix this issue.
I've had the Z1 Compact, Z3 Compact and the Z5 Compact. Both the Z3 & Z5 Compact have developed screen problems within 18 months. I did not keep the Z1 Compact long enough to notice any issues. It would be a shame if this is indeed a common issue as these phones occupy a unique niche in the market.
Hello,
I have the same problem as well, no more navigation buttons (home, back and activity), I did the diagnosis process passed over OK, it should be a software problem. Is there a way to solve the Problem?
I've also tried the Xperia Companion software repair process, but without fixing the problem.
Thank you
GT
Hi, I am very sorry to hear about that.
If it persists even after a software repair using Xperia Companion, then I am sorry to say that it would be best to have the device sent to an authorized service center so that a technician may examine it for you. The easiest way to have it sent in would be to get in touch with your Local support so that they may assist you, as service routines, warranty terms and consumer laws vary on a market to market basis.
Same problem! It is not software problem!
I have the same problem on my compact.
I tried all the fix attempts inc software repair with no help.
Now I have downloaded a dropdown app which deals with the top.
Then turning on glove mode has helped the bottom.
Now i'm waiting for the middle to go lol.
Hope this fix helps you too
Same problem exactly. 2 y.o. phone. It's called programmed obsolescency, guys. Stuff is manufactured purposefully in order to fail after a more or less short period of time. SONY is not an exception, but just another deception. It's not any more the reliable brand it used to be, at all. Away with its prestige.
Z3C's touchscreen gradually becomes unresponsive at top and bottom. Navigation buttons and notification bar are painful. And there's nothing really useful you can do about it, except replacing the faulty screen for a new one, which will also be obsolescence-programmed. The 'fixes' suggested here by the community manager are a loss of time; and he knows it; but he's paid to do that job. A very displeasing one--I can imagine--if he's a honest person. I feel for him.
So, no: this is not a software issue. It happens by the time your guarantee expires (funny coincidence!). Sony knows it very well. But they just play dumb, in the (statistically founded) hope that their customers will think: 'oh!, whatever. It was about time for a new phone anyway'; then go and buy their next piece of obsolescence-programmed stuff.
Just in case anyone wants to know, I've used several firmwares in this phone, all of them flawless, including of course stock ROM, but the problem persists throughout all of them (now, I can see someone now sayng: "but, but, but that's why!") Forget it: the touchscreen is simply faulty. And, Sony, there's no way I'm going to send it to your 'customer service' so as to reward you for having sold me a bad quality phone.
Lastly, as a personal favour, I would very much appreciate if the community manager does not answer to this post of mine, since anything he can say will only mean an insult for my intelligence. As a matter of fact, the only acceptable thing for him to reply would be: "yes, I acknowledge that Z3C's touchscreen is faulty, that SONY doesn't care about its customers, and will not take any liability for the bad stuff we're selling".
Same problem here, top and bottom not responsive to touch. Tried the screen test, I was only able to clear 2/3 of the screen - the whole middle section from top to bottom was unresponsive. This must be a hardware touchscreen problem with all of the Z3 models! This is so frustrating, why release a piece of hardware that people pay good money for with a faulty touchscreen! I feel robbed.
In that case it would be best to have the device sent to an authorized service center so that a technician may examine it as I suggested in my previous post here.
Same here with my Z3 Compact. It's about 2 years old now and warrenty is gone. I didn't use the phone anymore since I got an X Compact but wanted to use it for app development. When I switched it off and put it away the touchscreen was fully functioning. Yesterday I switched it on again and now the bottom and top of the screen is unresponsive. I tried a Factory reset but it did help. It can't be an issue with the screen itself since the phone was just laying around. Maybe it's an issue with the display controller.
First the easily broken screen and back cover and now a failing touch screen. You guys should lower your prices if you sell garbage like this.
I am very sorry to hear about what has happened and what you feel @forseti.
I am sorry to say that there is not much I can recommend besides from having the device sent to an authorized service center so that a technician may have a look at it for you. The easiest way to have it sent in would be to get in touch with your Local support so that they may assist you, as service routines, warranty terms and consumer laws vary on a market to market basis.
