I got a brand new Z5 today and it is doing the same thing. Flashing red light in the corner and won't power on past the initial Logo screen.
I managed to fix my problem. It wasn't the phone. I had bought the Z5 to replace a Z2 and put the Z2 sd card into the Z5. When I removed the sd card, the Z5 worked as it should.
I have formatted the sd card and reinserted it in the Z5 and all seems to be well.
Hi @Dexirion,
I am sorry to hear that.
I suggest that you try removing both the SIM and SD cards, turn it off using the OFF button located in the SIM area, make sure to charge your device for at least 2 hours and then try powering it on again without the SD/SIM cards inserted.
An error occurred while repairing your device.
Please try again. If the problem persists, please contact Sony support.

I bought Z5 compact after 2 weeks of usage it won,t turn on,flashing red led when plugged and if i try to power it. it goes blank and keep flashing red night.i have tried to hard rest it but nothing happened. i bought the phone while i was on holidays in europe and now i am back to Africa. how do i get help from sony?
I am sorry to hear that @andydino.
I suggested it earlier in the thread, but could you try removing both the SD and SIM cards and then turn the device off using the OFF button located next to the SIM area? Once you've done so, charge the device for at least 2 hours and then try booting it again. Let me know how it went and we can look further in to it!
Having exactly the same issue.
Was advised by online chat to use the Xperia Companion on my PC to carry out a software repair. That solved the problem, for about an hour, and I now have the same problem again. Seems to be a known issue but I am now not getting a response from the Sony support team. Lots of photos and other things lost as a result of this. Very unhappy indeed.
@Scott1509, sorry about your device.
Did you do anything specific after an hour which you think may have triggered it?
A software repair will delete all locally stored data, sorry to hear about the data loss.
I have had this variably over a year.
Often the volume down and hold on to power rests. On one occasion, I had to use a pin and reset by pressing the button next to the SIM, although taking out the SIM does a similar re-start.
So far have not lost data but it does also appear to be related to unresponsiveness by the phone that variably happens during use.
I have had SONY phones for over a decade, this is unfortunately normal. The company will advise you to wipe date, reset phones, companions and repar centre and never get to the bottom of the problem for the simple fact they often do not know themselves. Its a sony-glitch, a sony-thing
