xz2 high temperature

Hi, I have been using the phone for the past 2 days and realised that it heats up pretty quickly. It was particularly hot at the top part of the back of the phone, the area where the NFC logo is located. I did several "tests" to see how fast it heats up, and I made sure that the phone was cooled down before each try.

Firstly, I used the phone for browsing the internet for about 15mins and realised that the temperature(battery) has risen to 43 degrees celsius. Next, I tried using its camera and took several shots and after about 5 minutes of use, the temperature has also risen to 44.2 degrees and the a message was prompted stating something like "the temperature is too high! camera needs to turn off." I then tested the video recording in 4K resolution. The recording lasted for only about 3mins 40secs before the message was prompted, and the recording was not saved. The temperature rose to 44.5 degree celsius.

I understand that the automatic shut off of the camera was to prevent any hardware damage from the high temperature. However 15 mins of browsing and less than 5 minutes of 4k recording does not appear satisfactory from a user's point of view, especially after the device being touted as the best Sony has built. I hope that a software update can help mitigate this issue, as it will be a huge hindrance to the day to day usage if the issue remains. Does anyone else have the same issue?

I too live in Ausria and have the same problem, even if the surrounding temperature is below 18C. The camera simply shuts down after a few seconds with a warning message.

Sony should recall this lousy phone. There is so many problems. I really regret that I bought it.

My glas over the camera was off centered too and there were a large dust particle inside. It also shut down after 2 min. 40 sec of 4k recording and the sound was out of sync with the video when replayed even on my computer and tv.

No chance, you would have the Z1 Compact owners up in arms, they should be before the Z2 for any kind of recall :smileysmileywink:

Same problem on my side and I am French resident.

It is my third handset in 4 weeks and still bumping into similar issues althought I was advised by a SoneCare person to use the Sony update services even if my phone was up to date. Still facing similar issues along with too many others for a phone of that sort, price range.

Unless Sony comes up with a Software Z2 Release very very soon, I am doubtful that this problem will ever get solved as this has been dragging along for to long now. I read so many complaints. Sony will unfortunately lose me and will also lose face on their capablities to resolve technical  issues and market share at the top end of the mobile phone.

It's a shame cos the phone has all you require to be one of the best on the market when you use it intensiveley for buisness and pleasure occasionally.

I did but unfortunately I am now tired of re-initiated my phone to my own settings afer all these resets/trials. Phone is still behaving not like it should. Too many bugs for a phone of that sort, price range. 95% of the use of my phone is for business purpose so I can not afford to have something un-reliable. My old Galaxy SIII is working better!!
