Z2 LTE Not Working...

Ok so I just got a brand new Z2 factory unlocked (D6503) 3 weeks ago. Since the model supports LTE I was happy to test it out.

The network operator I'm on has excellent coverage of 4G in my area and that 4G works on other devices well. Turns out that Z2 can search for the LTE network but gives the error of can't register the SIM or network is not available.

I have spent hours with customer service of my network, even got my SIM card changed and also got my 4G subscription deactived and activated on the handset. All other settings (APN etc) are configured ok.

I also changed my network operator with my father's on which 4G coverage is optimal (they're the government run organization), and even on that Z2 can't register on the LTE network.

I confirmed time and again that the bands broadcasted by the networks here are supported by Z2.

Then how come Z2 is not registering on working on LTE? Is this a software issue?

I'm on the very latest FW (.314) that is availble.

How do you know you're not connecting via LTE?  The current firmware does not contain an "LTE" icon.  It will simply say "4G."  Download Ookla speed test and see if you are getting typical 4G LTE speeds.  Since you say your area is optimal, it should be fast.  With 2 bars out of 4, I'm getting avg. 17.5 Down / 7.5 Up.  With 3 bars, 22.5 Down / 12 Up.  With 4 full bars, 29 Down / 10 Up.

The reason I know that LTE/4G is not connected is because I can see a H+ icon when mobile data is connected. There's no 4G/LTE icon anywhere. Plus it cannot register on the 4G network.

What model number phone is this?  D6502 or D6503?

For anyone who doesn't know, it has the LTE icon! (I'm using it)

Have you tried putting the same Sim to another 4G LTE compatible device? If not try that as well!!!

4G and LTE are 2 different terms!

4G is 4th generation of mobile connections!!

And LTE (Long - Term Evolution) is just a type of connection which belongs to the 4th generation! (I'm not sure, but as far as I remember even Hsdpa+ is 4G, I'm not sure)

Okay so actually solved the issue.

I reinstalled/repaired the FW using Sony PC Companion and now LTE works perfectly. But the side effect? I heard that 4.4.2 causes many bugs and seems like I just got the phone sluggish one.

Phone feels sluggish in different parts as well as when I tap the recent icons button. Also the animation for WiFi turning on and off is not there anymore...

I don't know what's happening anymore....:/

restart device by holding thr power button and volume up together till device vibrates 3 times then start device again should be more smooth

btw 4G is not LTE in america 4G equals HSPA in the uk 4G =LTE
