z3+ not plauing music after updating to Nougat

Hi, last week i updated my phone to Nougat, but since then i am unable to play music files (mp3's) stored in my mobile. it keeps giving the message, Cannot play song. i was able to play them before. i am to able to play youtube videos using the youtube app and sound is working fine. it's onluy the mp3 files stored ony my mobile internal as well as external memory that i am not able to play.

Hi @Amit83, I'm sorry to hear about that.

Are you using the inbuilt Music application in your phone when trying to play your music files? If not, could you please do that and see if you are able to play them in that application?

If you have one or more music files stored on for example your computer, could you try moving a few of them over to your phone and see if you can play them in the Music application?

Hi Jonas, yes i am using the default Music application that was inbuilt within the xperia phone. i even tried installing some third party music apps like google play with the same results. the same files are playable on the computer.

That sounds strange, could you please try and reboot your phone in safe mode and see if you can play the songs using the inbuilt Music player in your phone? Just to make sure that this isn't caused by a third party application.

You can also make sure that the Music application has the correct permissions in the phone so it has access to the internal storage / your SD card.

Go to Settings > Apps > Music > Permissions > make sure that Storage is enabled.
