No Text Message Sound

Hi

I dont know if anyone can help, but i cant get my phone to make any sounds when i get a text message. I took it into Carphone Warehouse over the weekend - they spent 30 minutes trying all the settings, but could only manage to get it to vibrate. All other notifications, calls, etc are all making sounds. Carphone Warehouse said they thought it either needed a software update (ive checked and my phone says there arent any updates at the moment), or to try to factory reset - but this will lose all my current settings, saved photos, etc, and it took me 3 days to get the phone setup in the first place.

Please can anyone help?

It could be an app you've installed interfering with it. Try booting into Safe mode and see if it still happens - press and hold power button, then press and hold the onscreen power off option until you get asked to choose safe mode.

Hi @MMlot, let me see if I can help out here!

Have you tried clearing the data for the messages app? This will not delete any previously received or sent messages, but it will reset all settings for the app which might do the trick. Find and tap Settings > Apps & notifications > Show all XX apps > Messages > Storage > Clear data > Tap "OK" > Restart the phone.
