Sony Xperia 1 does not support FiiO Q1 mik ii DAC

Hi

When I connect an external DAC to the phone using an OTG cable, the external DAC is not available for playback from Amazon Music HD.

The reported device capability is the phone's - as limited by the Android OS i.e. 24bit / 48 KHz

However if I use an APP with its own proprietary Audio driver, e.g. Neutron or USB Audio Player PRO on the Xperia 1, the external DAC is detected and playback is through the external DAC.  I know this as:

For DSD tracks - DSD confirmation light is on

Reported playback is in line with external DAC capability e.g. 96KHz 24bit (for one of my flac files) or even 11.2MHz 1 bit for one of my DSD files.

I cannot find a way of enabling the external DAC for APPs that do not have proprietory audio drivers, such as Amazon Music HD.  This is a major drawback to using my Sony phone.

Just to add, in developer options I do not see options in the default USB configuration settings for AUDIO or MTP USB connections, so there is no possibility to force a working connection that way.

I'm pretty sure you can't, so you will have to use a third party app with its own engine.

Not down to Sony, that's the sytem limitations you have encountered.

It's like that across the board, not just Sony, unless they impliment their own custom player and engine.

Even the older LG phones which were designed for audio, it all was just fake figures and numbers, and in reality if you wanted top quailty audio, you would be better off with a seperate player and pocket amp, rather than relying on a phone.
