Flash Gun Compatibility SLT-A65v

Hi Sony Community, I have an 'old' Cobra 700AF Flash Gun which was fully compatible with my old Minolta 8000i Dynax Camera.  Since Sony bought out Minolta long since and my replacement Camera was a Sony SLT-A65v does anyone know if the above Flashgun is compatible with the Sony SLT-A65v?   

ps. the pattern and pins appear to match up ok, but I don't wish to risk simply trying it on my Camera in case it fries the electronics.

I don't think that they are compatible officially, so maybe someone here has tried that combo and could shed more light on the matter.
