Why can’t I connect to my bbc Iplayer all of a sudden? All other apps working. Can access via live tv/catch up but not where it sits as a Sony set up app

This is yet more evidence that Sony and Google need to sort themselves out and put the catch-up apps in the Play Store as normal. Even before this issue, they were a clunky workaround.

Hello All,

I was able to rectify this issue by uninstalling the updates for the Live TV & catch up app, you can go to settings- apps-see all apps-Live TV & catchup-uninstall updates.

Then restart your TV and the app will be working fine from the shortcut on your home menu.

This is still ongoing. Uninstalling the live view updates allows you to go on the Iplayer app but only for a day or two then have to repeat. 
Sony need to sort this out

You can try to temporarily disable automatic updates of the apps in the Google Play Store settings until this issue gets resolved

I hope someone is able to help me.  I am having the same trouble trying to access BBC iplayer from my Sony KD-55XG8796 TV. I have read and tried everything in this thread to no avail and am desperate to use it as I have bought this TV thinking it would run iplayer like my old TV did. I am lost without it. There IS a BBC iplayer app listed but every time I open it it briefly says 'loading...' then the BBC iplayer flash screen diplays and that is it. Nothing else. Just will not load iplayer at all. Just sticks there showing the splash screen forever. I have the sony app collection in and have tried the 'My Five' app and that works fine. Just this iplayer that hangs. The version software is V9 and I cannot find anywhere how to uninstall it back to a previous version.  So I am totally at  a loss what next to try. Help!

It’s crazy. You can open the app on live tv and catch up and it works that way.
My beef now is I can watch anything live on ITVX

What is this 'Live TV' and 'catch-up'? Nothing like that on MY TV.
