Just being hypothetical as I don’t think I need one.
When I go to the Sony Support website and enter my model number, it doesn’t display a firmware update button. Should it?

You are correct, there doesn't appear to be any updates available for your KD-55XG9505 at this time.
Note, if you install the "Support by Sony" app on your phone or tablet you will be alerted when an update is available.

However, I was expecting to see the current firmware still available for re-download for folk who might have damaged their implementation in some way and wish to redo it.
Maybe this isn’t the way Android works? (Like reinstalling Windows over itself)
