DSC-HX60 'unable to display'

DSC-HX60 'unable to display'

Hello,

just purchased a DSC-HX60 for the wife as a 30th birthday present. Just in time for our holiday to the Algarve. 150 snaps later, we decide to have a little look back at them. However, after pressing the playback button it doesn't display the image taken, but a question mark in the thumbnail. Click on the image, and it reads 'unable to display'.

Does anyone know how to rectify this? We are now worrying that all those moments we snapped, are lost/corrupt and not recoverable. Unfortuently we can't upload them to a computer as we have a week to go.

Even if if someone could reasure me that although the images aren't viewable on the camera they will upload fine to a computer I'll be grateful. That way I know I should still snap away!

Then in in the longer term I will have to fine a permanent fix to this.

Thanks guys,

Mark

Hi Mark,

welcome to the Sony User Community Forum..

As far as I am aware the Unable to Display message usually displays if the images have been shot with a different camera or have been modified, rotated, etc using a PC..

Is this a new SD card that you have in the camera??

After taking a photo does the image display on the LCD screen??

I have some images that show unable to display on an old Cybershot camera & those display ok on a PC but as to wether they will display correctly for you when you get home is hard to say but for piece of mind it might be worth investing in a new SD card..

If all images are affected then you could also try recovering the Image Database by doing the following

  1. MENU (Setup) → [Recover Image DB] [Enter].

Thanks for your reply!

The SD card we are using is a brand new - Sony 32GB Class 10 UHS-1 Secure Digital SDHC Memory Card.

It was recommend to go with the camera on Amazon and retails at £85, but obviously cheaper on Amazon!

I also know that the SD card was formatted before use.

Yes, after every picture taken the image is displayed on the screen for a few seconds, however when we hit play back I'd say 70% of the picture are 'unable to display'.

I have tried the image database recovery, as detailed, but to no avail.

Thanks,

Mark

Hi,

another option could be to visit a local camera specialist if there is one in your area & see if they can check the card for you..
