XBP800 freezing

Looking on here a lot of you have problems with the XBP800 freezing intermittently. This can be when watching a disc or using apps. I contacted Sony and got this standard reply

Dear Mr. Shaw,

Thank you for contacting Sony support.

With reference to your enquiry regarding your Sony UBP-X800, please perform the steps below as an attempt to resolve the issue:

  1. Unplug the player from the mains.
  2. Disconnect it from any other device it's connected to.
  3. Wait for 2 or more minutes then plug it back and test.

  5. Perform a factory reset for the product by going through [Home] > [Resetting] > [Reset to Factory Default Settings/Initialise Personal Information (Do both)].

Firstly, has anyone been able to sort it and if so how? Secondly, is it just me but whenever I have had to contact Sony support you never get any real help?
