FAQ: Screen Mirroring, Miracast and Apple Products

The Low-down:
Sony's 2013 TV range allows you to mirror the screen of a Smart Phone or Tablet that is compatible with Miracast Technology.  Apple products such as iPhones and iPads use a technology called Airplay.  Unfortunately Miracast and Airplay is not cross-compatable with one another.

Do I have Miracast:
If you are unsure if your device has Miracast, the Wi-fi Alliance website holds information on which devices are Miracast Certified.  Simply type in your model number in the searchbar at the top of the website, download and then open the PDF file.  In the "Summary of Certifications" section, it should say "Applications & Services: Miracast-Source" for a device, or "Miracast-Display" for a TV.  See useful links for the website.

What Can I do if I have an Apple product:
Fortunately you do have an option to wirelessly mirror your Apple product that uses Airplay.  You will need a device called Apple TV though.
