Hello @fazz
I'd suggest that you perform the software repair using Xperia Companion again. This will do a clean installation of the latest firmware and will also wipe your internal memory. But this time spend a couple of days testing it without installing apps, or if you are restoring apps try to restart your phone into the safe mode to disable any 3rd party apps. We need to make sure if one of your apps is causing some instability.
Follow the steps given in blue links, and keep us updated.

done it three times. the motherboard gets very hot as well. still gets caught in a loop. ive seen other people with identical issues, restarting loop, hot and wifi issues. apparently its harware issue. absolutely fuming. i work very hard and buying a new phone will consume all my cash. and repairs on sony cost a lot more than apple.

@fazz: try to charge device for 1-2 hours. ignore bootloops.
do not turn on device immediately proceed with software repair using Xperia Companion, just follow the instuctions , your device doesn;t need to be powered on to perform repair
