Switch off blinking screen when making phone calls

Hi, can anyone tell me how to stop the Xperia S stock phone app from blinking on and off (the whole screen) when making a call?  It's such an unnecessary annoyance but can't find any settings for the app anywhere.

Thanks

James

Well, the screen shouldn't be blinking. It should turn off when you have your phone against the ear to prevent you disconnecting the call or messing things up with your ear while talking in it.

Ok, I accept that the screen turns off when a call has connected but that doesn't explain why the screen blinks on and off when you're dialling.  It serves no purpose and is quite annoying if for example I want to see how long I've been trying to get through to someone or want to check the display for some other related info.

Does the screen stay black when you have the phone up against your ear? Does it turn back on when you take it down or does it start blinking when you do this?

Four, plus years later, no solution & not even a respectable reply! Wow!

So Yea..  Sony Xperia.. Same flashing issue. Not while I'm making call. Rather while I'm in call & for example I have to *choose 1 for English*, etc. The struggle is real & annoying as he**!

Alright, so I still stand by being very irked that there's been no good response for this. Except Samual, that at least asked a good question and didn't receive a response.

That said..

I swallow my pride, in order to hopefully help others with this issue. 😳

I figured out that it was because my finger/hand would go in front of the sensor, that tells the phone when your face is there.

If you don't get a reply you can get in contact with your Local support, keep in mind that this is a global user based forum, btw do you have an Xperia S?
