HDMI picture without sound

Hello everyone,

I have had a Sony KDL-48WD650 Bravia TV since 2016. We regularly watch shows through our computer using the HDMI connection. It always worked until a short time ago, when all of a sudden we had the picture but no longer the sound. The sound of the TV works very well when we are not connected in HDMI.

I reinstalled the factory settings several times, the latest software version is installed (8.234). I tried several HDMI cables and several different devices but nothing worked, we have no more sounds, only either by jack speakers or direct TV sound, when HDMI is used whether on HDMI 1 arc and HDMI 2.

Do you have any ideas for fixes or solutions to this problem?

I’m not clear what direction things are going in. Do you mean you have an HDMI out on your computer, and are feeding the picture and sound to the TV, but the sound has stopped?

And no matter what else you connect to the HDMI inputs, you still don’t get any sound through?

And you have tried other HDMI cables?

In which case, it sounds very much as if the HDMI board in the TV has failed, and you will need to contact Sony to see how much it would cost, and decide if this seven year old TV is worth repairing, or if it is perhaps time for a new 2023 model?
