My version 8.219
New version 8.229
Cannot install via network or usb. Have done factory reset ( painfully time consuming )
New update fixes an issue with subtitles that I am having issues with. Update is only available for Euro TV's which mine is.
Should I just wait for Sony developers to fix this 5 year old model? ( support less likely at this age )
Hi Ginger,
Do you see any error messages when you update via USB? i would use another USB stick if possible.
Best regards,
Bat_Rick
Error message is either -
"TV is already on latest firmware" or "No update found"
Which country did you buy the TV from and did you try the country-specific website? I know they're all European technically, but just to be sure.
Uk and
I cannot remember if I applied a Latvian firmware a year or more ago. TV is happy with english language.
Installed fw is v8.219-1000-1.330-01.
I need a new USB stick anyway, may try again with new stick.
Do let us know once you try it! ^^
I might just hurt the Earth and bin it, now it wont recognise the 1Gb WD elements drive i installed at the Sony's birth. My next TV has right to repair and doesn't employ marketing focused forum contributors. Hi-sense for the software, LG for the panel. More likely 8k display only. I'll deal with additional hardware and software because clearly OEM's cannot.
Sony got big in the 1970's through its Bassy punchy hardware sound. I spent a lot of time in the 80's procuring left hand power amplifier transistors to replace a clearly ( recurring nature of the left fault )in and A-B power transistor amplifier audio circuit design. Sony moved on to PlayStation to steal some Nintendo/Sega market growth, now Sony is just like any other who outsource every aspect of product including quality testing - outsourced Just like Nokia did as finished product to consumer. Just like Nokia did at its height of success.
Bonus: Just got an "engaged badge" ( should be ENRAGED ) like it has any value.
Sounds like you had a terrible experience!
Have you tried factory resetting it after trying the update as a last resort? It's not a sure-fire thing but it helps "settle-in" the update.
