Although I have added my printer to my computer, I can't print without the USB cable being attached. Can anyone help?

Hi
My notebook is VPCEE3EOE and my Printer is KODAK ESP9 AIO. I have wifi using NETGEAR. The printer is showing as my default printer and prints perfectly when the USB cable is attached. There is another laptop using the printer without a cable. I have followed all the troubleshooting advice for a few months now without success and am very frustrated with it. I am sure it must be something basic!
Thanks
