Another Problem, DVD Writer problem!

When I try burning a disc in nero it starts then just before it gets to 1% it says -

PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K12D

Internal target failure

Burn process failed

So I tired another program, Tried Roxio Easy meadia creator 7.5 and it gave me a different error message same simptoms as above.

Message -

E:PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K12D (HARDWARE ERRO. "[04/44/D9])

Does anyone know what this means? could this be another driver problem? I can't see it being a driver problem as I have burnt DVD successfully for a whole year now.

Please help laptop seems to be letting me down alot 😞

Thanks in advance.

From what I've read on the net looks like it's a hardware error.

I'd suggest trying to reinstall the drive and Nero

Hey Kee-lo,

thanks for the advice

Installed drivers again and installed nero again but still same problem 😞

Drives downloaded from vaio link web site.

does is read dvd cd plus see if the pioneer web sites hav any updates driver. Go to device manager from control panel and see if there is any faults with the driver and also it has the correct drivers displayed. if none of tht works then it looks like it could be a hardware fault

thanxs I'll try this.

It reads some dvds but doesn't read some dvds it could previoiusly.

Cds are fine reads and writes everything.

if the drives been replaced before under warrenty (last month of warrenty) Would I still be covered on the replacement for fualts??

Thanks

Only if the warranty is still valid.

If you have one month left on it and have it fixed you'll still have one month of your warranty left.

If the drive subsequently proves to be duff then you have to prove it was of unmerchantable quality if you want to claim a new one.

Are you saying that your original warranty or the warranty on the replacement part has one month to run? Parts replaced as faulty by Sony carry a 6 month warranty from the time of replacement.
Have a look at the post by Rob in this thread.

I solve all my problems [well, almost all] by updating DVD firmware. Here is the good link regarding that theme

Hi!
I have a PCG-K315M with a Pioneer dvd drive (DVR-K14) and has the same problem as yours!
I am trying to contact e-support for the second time about this problem, they don't seem interested in solving my problem.
Now, the dvd drive doesn't even read the recovery dvds, so if I need to do a recovery on my vaio...Im in big trouble!

Thanks
