DVD ROM playing slowly and no sync between audio and video

I have been having my A317 notebook for a while now...until date, i have never had problems and suddenly the DVD ROM is going crazy....

It plays DVDs in slow motion(0.5X) and the audio is half its original frequency as well and does not syncronize with the video. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver...reinstalled the software(Win DVD)...and still the same problem...

and the Drives on the Device manager is mentioned as below:
SONYDVD RW DW -D56A
Generic DVD ROM SCSI CDRom Device

can someone help me with this problem?!!!!!

After a painstaking hour, atlast...i ahve fixed this problem and if someone encounters the same kinda problem, here is the solution:

Go to this link:

http://www.vaio-link.com/downloads/select/select.asp?l=en

and select the Optical Drive under Firmware and update ur driver...and reboot the machine!
