FS215Z Slow to shut down
I've a Vaio FS215Z just a few weeks old. It seems very slow to shutdown. What's the norm? Mine takes 2-3minutes, then a slow start up also.
It's almost as slow as navigating this forum:smileyhappy:

Hi.
here's an earlier thread on shutting down.
http://www.club-vaio.com/clubvaio/mvnforum/viewthread?thread=25698
check start>run>msconfig and see what is running in your startup and services tab.
if there is something that doesn't look right check here to see what it is

also do a spyware and anti-virus check.

Thanks, Lizzie
I'm checking your link to previous thread.
As for msconfig, well I don't think I have the knowledge to play around there. however I'll check some entries against your second link. It will add a wee bit to the little I know of this stuff.
Incidetally, last shutdown took over four minutes:smileysad: .
I have downloaded Spybot S+D and Zonealarm but they did not find anything of significance.
BTW I made rcovery discs. If I reinstalled everything would I lose some programmes and functions?
Thanks
Jim

Hi js77

You will lose everything on the C drive as the reinstall formats this.
I suggest that, before taking this course of action, you move all your data files to the D drive.
To move your My Documents folder; right click on this in explore and select properties.
On the Target tab click Move.
Expand My Computer and single left click on the D drive and click OK.
You will still need to reinstall any third party software after performing a recovery but all your personal files will be unaffected - once moved to D:.

Hi
Here's another thread. http://www.club-vaio.com/clubvaio/mvnforum/viewthread?thread=25700
Did you download or install something recently?
Try and do a system restore first before reinstalling. start>accessories>system tools>system restore.
hope the link helps.
