i have just done a re-install of xp and have sp2 installed also but i am now unable to use the hotkeys and have tried installing the drivers twice ans it still refuses to work.
tried looking through the database but there is not much info there about possible cures.
anyone have any ideas what the problem is?
Look for the program "Hotkey.exe" on your recovery disk.
i have just done a search on the recovery disc and its not there.

hi, i have a PCG-K215B and yes, i did a fresh install with SP2 intergrated.
The HOTKEYS are my main issue but as far as i can see the only one that works properly is the one that puts the laptop in to STANDBY.
any help would be gretaly appreciated as i have uninstalled drivers and re-installed them etc but have had no luck at all
Install the Utils.exe from the VAIO CD
i have all the drivers from the web site and i never had a Vaio CD when i prchased it...... it only has a recovery from cd/dvd function which i have a dvd copy of and there is nothing on there to help me.
have tried all the utilities from the web site and it still refuses to work. i have installed every last bit of software from the utilities available and the only hotkey that works is the hibernation button...
i really do think it is a issue with service pack 2 and something i will have to put up with.
Slagboyz (what a name!),
Do you really need SP2?
The security features are not as good as those supplied in Noton Internet Security (if you update it) anyway... ...and you get this free with your VAIO anyway!
It may be better to do a full system recovery (from the supplied DVD... ...remember to save any important data before-hand as it wipes the harddrive) and live without SP2!
I don't know, it's up to you!

dont realy need it like you said.... its only SP2!
i just wanted the fresh start with an empty drive and with none of the extra programs.
think doing a recovery may be order of the day!
thanx for your help....
Hope it goes well!
