Intel 2200BG Wireless Adapter disconnecting / slow (S3XP)

Hello,

The wireless adapter in my S3XP is disconnecting about once every 3 minutes and its really starting to annoy me! The adapter is the Intel 2200BG.

The network is ad-hoc and the other wireless adapter is a Linksys WUSB11 situated right next to the notebook.

I've read on other forums that lots of people are having the same problem. Just wondering if anyone here has a problem with their Sony? Has anyone got a fix?

Thanks.

i used to get this problem on my vaio (VGN-195VP) all the time... it happened when just on the net but it also made online gaming a nightmare

after looking for ages for a solution i found
this on the valve website (one of the game makers) it is a specific soulution to the connection freezing during the game but it also fixed my normal internet connection so hopefully it will help you out. the programme they recommend works perfectly on my vaio so you should have no problems with it if you choose to use it

Has any one solved this problem yet? I have not and I am still using an external adaptor instead.

Alternatively, is there anyone who has an Intel 2200BG Wireless Adapter or a S3HP who does NOT have this problem?

I've found that a number of Wireless adapters have problems of this sort, not just on Sony kit.

If you deselect the 802.1 control I find that this seems to sort the problem in most cases.

Good luck!!

Try this: (It has improved my connectivty but it is still not perfect!!!)

Right click "My Computer", "Properties", "Hardware" Tab. Select "Device Manager", goto "Network adaptors". right click "Intel PRO/Wirless 2200BG", "Properties", "Advanced" Tab, in "Property" goto "Power Management" & change value to "Highest".

I hope you can follow this OK! Let us know if this helps....
