Microphone

I have a Sony VGN-S1VP ... and previously a 17" Vaio laptop. Is it correct that Sony does not put a mere integrated microphone on these laptops? If so, any idea why not? Olinga

You are right - there is no microphone. It's just Sony being stingy.

There is no integrated mic I'm afraid.
Anyway ones you plug in are much better quality

Both the integrated microphone and Infra-red ports were dropped from VAIOs a long time ago.

I remember the original F series had both.

However, IR is not so popular now anyway and as Kee-Lo says the stuff you plug in is much better anyway.

We have DELL Inspiron laptops at work which include built in microphones, the recording quality is chronic. All you can really hear are the laptops fans!!!!!
